Recently I have been using my digital scrap-booking skills for another purpose, I am creating save the date and announcement cards. Since I am spending so much time on these I decided that I should offer them up to the DIY brides that may find my blog. When I create these designs I make sure that they the text and photo are fully customizable and in some cases so is the color. If you are interested in any of these designs there are two ways to order, first if you like the design just the way it is and just want the PSD file to download to your computer and the edit in Photoshop or some other editing software ( there is one you can download that is free called Gimp that will let you edit these PSD files) you can go to my
Deviant Art Gallery where I have made these available for Download for two dollars each. You would then be able to Edit them to say what you want and put in the photo that you would like to use and have them printed somewhere. The second option is if you are unsure how to edit them yourself or would like a color change then you can contact me at email@example.com and we can discuss your save the date design. Custom designs start at 5 dollars depending on the amount of custom work I will need to do.
I really love to be creative and would love to help make your Save the Date announcements represent your relationship. After all you are Unique so why should you have the same announcement as everyone else?
Do you have an amazing love story? I want to hear it! We are having a contest for Valentines day. To enter send your picture to firstname.lastname@example.org with your love story and why you would like to win a free couples photo session. This last weekend In Portland a VERY brave man proposed to his girlfriend and the video went viral. On youtube this video is called Best Marriage Proposal EVER. -Portland Oregon. I have embedded it below for you to enjoy.
This got me thinking… Why is it that More people dont document this moment? It is going to be something that you will want to remember for the rest of your lives and a story that you will tell your children (should you have any) and grand children( again should you have any) so why not make this not only easier to remember but something that you can truly share with family through the generations. There is a couple ways that I can think of to do this.
One is through video like the guy in the above video did you can either be blatant about this or sneaky, however if you shove a big old camera in your girlfriends face she is going to know whats going on so there are some ways that even with a larger camera you can do this without being all in your face.. Ask a friend to hide out in a crowd with the camera where they can see you and press the record button at the appropriate time, or if you are more out going run of to “go to the rest room” and ask a innocent bystander to covertly record the proposal. If neither one of these are Spy enough for you there are many pin hole video cameras or bat operated “nanny” type cameras. You could wear a pin hole cam on your shirt without anyone knowing or even set up a few of the “nanny cams” in trees and such. Or if you want you can make the recording part of the awe of the proposal and get a flash mob style proposal going.
The other way that I can think of is through the photograph. Bring a camera with you and ask someone around to take pix as you propose or higher a photographer, either way you will get pictures that will last a lifetime and help you to remember this special night.
After my two recent Engagement Photo sessions I decided I needed to put together some save the date cards. I have had a lot of fun with these. For some of them I took black and white flash designs and super imposed them on a flat color background. Others I used pictures of printed fabric and super imposed them so that the design was still there but I could change the color, still others I just used the fabric or another picture as the background itself. This has allowed me to be even more creative than my photography already does. Because I enjoy them so much I have decided to add them as an add on to my engagement portrait packages at the higher levels. and as a 10 dollar per design add on to the lower level package.
If you would like to schedule an engagement portrait session or have any questions pleased contact me one of the following ways:

I had two engagement Portrait sessions this weekend. The sun was shinning for both of them It was beautiful! The First session was an Molalla River State Park, We didnt get very far into the park but got several great shots. Tamara and Her fiance were amazing and so easy to work with. I hope you enjoy the Preview pictures.
The second shoot was at Mary S Young Park in West Linn with my engagement contest winner Traci and her Fiance. I had never been to this park before and wouldn’t you know that part of the park is an off leash dog park. There were dogs everywhere but it was so much fun! There were beautiful oak trees everywhere and a very pretty white flower that I do not know the name of but of course I had to use it in the ring picture!

I have only done One engagement photo shoot, for my sister and her fiance. I did this shoot before I got my cannon T3I so I just used my Point and shoot and my Corel Paint Pro Photo Editing software. We went to Crater Lake in Southern Oregon and then to Lake Billy Chinook. Because these were done with my point and shoot they are not quite the quality that I am able to get now but I am still proud of what i was able to capture with my little point and shoot. I do still need some engagement pictures for my portfolio and so am looking for two or three couples who want to get some engagement portraits done in the Portland metro area. I will give you up to an hour photo shoot with at least 10 images on a disk free of charge if you will agree to let me use the shots for my portfolio and advertising. I am an out-door photographer so we will need to work arround the Oregon weather But I am available most weekends. There are several places in the area that I like to do portraits However I am willing to go to most areas in the Portland Metro area. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a shoot you can contact me on my Facebook or at my email email@example.com Please mention my engagement portraits blog.
